Free Family Program this Saturday at the Minnesota Marine Art Museum for Children Ages 5-10!

Tempting Tales
Saturday, June 14 10-11:30 a.m.

“What's past is prologue.” ~ The Tempest, Act 2, Scene 1

Join us for a program of Shakespearean proportions as company members of the Great River Shakespeare Festival read a storybook translation of The Tempest and then investigate some of the rocky seas in the paintings of the Jack Gray in the exhibit Men in Fickle Seas. Prepare to use your body and voices because we will engage in some acting of our own. This program is designed for children ages 5-9 accompanied by an adult. Admission is free, but space is limited. This program is free as part of the Museums education and outreach programs.

Drop-In on Thursdays has been so popular during the school year that lets keep the fun going in the summer as well.  Time starts at Noon, so feel free to come with a packed lunch or just join us at the park for fun.

June 11, 2008 5:00pm Meet at Lakeview Drive Inn (610 E Sarnia Street) for dinner and bring you bikes, trike, or hike to the band shell for the evening concert.
June 26, 2008 10:00am Meet at the Post Office (67 W 5th Street) for a brief tour of what happens behind the scenes to a letter once dropped in the mail.
July 7, 2008 10:00am Meet at Winona National Bank-Downtown (204 Main Street) to tour the vault and the mini museum they have upstairs.  There will be other surprises as well.
July 22, 2008 between Noon-7pm at the Aquatic Center (780 W 4th Street) ECFE Families can get wet and wild for FREE.  Families who were registered for any classes during the '07-'08 school year will be allowed in for free.
August 11, 2008 5:00pm Meet at LaCanne Park in Goodview (off of HWY 61) for dinner, a dip, and biking…or just play on the equipment!  Bring your own family picnic fair for dinner.
August 22, 2008 10:00am Meet at Central Fire Station (451 E 3rd Street) get a tour of the station and see some fire trucks close up!  We need a ratio of one adult for every three kids.  If you are not able to comply with this please call 474-0132 and speak with Laura.

Winona City (Municipal) Band:  Wednesday Evenings @ the Band Shell on Lake Winona
Concerts begin at 8pm June 11 – August 13, 2008.  If the concert begins after your bed time come and listen to the band practice before each concert starting at 6pm.  The Winona Municipal Band is the oldest municipal band west of the Mississippi River and features Sousa marches, Purcell suites, arrangements of American folk and show tunes and more.

• Help celebrate Minnesota’s 150th birthday with Winona being the honorary state capital for the day! Adult themed events will be held at the City Hall including various legislative events as well as an appearance by Governor Tim Pawlenty!
• Events for all ages will be held at the Band Shell starting at 4:30pm. A day full of food, fun, wagon rides, games and music. Fireworks at 9:30pm.
